Just completed on hard mode. Was decent.

-SPOILER ALERT- (Highlight to read)
However I got this overwhelming feeling in the beginning that it turned more into a Lara Croft in space. By the end there were way too many puzzles and cutscenes for my personal taste. I knew ahead of time that EA and Visceral wanted to go more into a actiony sequel. They did good with that but definitely cut some serious corners on the game actually being "scary". The horror and scares are definitely no longer in this series. Hope they bring it back with something more like the first.

Some people have speculated that the gameplay is synchronous with Isaacs character development. In DS1 he was just a simple space miner – in DS2 we was familiar with markers and necromorphs – by DS3 he was a full on necro/marker killer – and so the slow slide from survival horror to combat action “makes sense”. But yes, I wish it was scarier and stuck more in line with horror than shooter.
